2011

Well, it's almost 2012. Here I am, waiting for my bff to get here so we can start the party!!

2011....you were kinda crazy. Actually, you were really mellow, which was crazy since 2010 was so crazy. I don't feel like rambling here so I think I'm just gonna post some random stuff about my year:

God is awesome. I am in awe of Him. He is good, He is worthy to be praised.

Life hurts, God heals. (No I did not make that up myself)

People who go to Psychiatrists and counselors are not freaks. Some people have divorced parents, some people have trouble in school, some people have drug problems, and some people have OCD, some people cut, and some people have self-image problems. Guess what? WE ALL HAVE PROBLEMS!! This world tries to make out that some issues are bigger than others, BUT THATS NOT TRUE. Don't be afraid to seek help if you are going through something, and don't be turned away because you're afraid of feeling like a freak, you're not.

Sometimes I'm just gonna have to hurt. There is time in life for hurting and breaking and being at the complete end of your rope and there are times to rejoice and feel completely happy. Everyone goes through these stages, if you're in the hard one, hold on and never give up. WE HAVE ALL BEEN THERE AND WE WANT TO HELP. :)

It is a complete mystery why some of our best friends live so far away. It hurts to be away from those people, but I trust God that He has a plan for those relationships.

All you have is yourself. God has given you one personality, one face, one body, one life on this earth. YOU ARE NEVER GOING TO STOP BEING YOU. Enjoy yourself and stop trying to be like everyone else. Your problems are not going to disapear after you turn 20 or after you get married. You are you FOREVER, so accept this and enjoy it. (NOTE: I totally need to take my own advice :S)

THERE IS NO CONDEMNATION FOR THOSE WHO ARE IN CHRIST JESUS (ROM 8:1) I've spent all this time feeling sinful and yucky inside, THAT'S NOT FROM GOD. Once we confess our sins there is no condemning anymore. God isn't mad at us, He isn't frowning and displeased. He looks at us as He looks at Jesus THIS IS MY BELOVED SON IN WHOM I AM WELL PLEASED. Rest in God's peace and love and look at this world with a bright outlook knowing that God loves you, no strings attached, no loopholes, no fine print.

That's all I can think of for now. Hope this encourages you. :) HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR AND BE SAFE!!!

What has God taught you this year?

What I've Overcome (Fireflight song)

I remember when I bought this album, I was in a really painful place. I remember listening to this song and hoping that someday I could sing this song about myself. Today is that day.

Jesus, You're awesome. Thank you for saving me and never giving up on me even when I turn away from You. Thank you for Your awesome healing.

Post #7: Write about a Favorite Season

MY FAVORITE SEASON IS.......................

I love summer because:
It is warm and sunny and happy all the day long!
No school!
I get to watch my niece and nephew in the summer as my summer job and we have lots of fun.
My dog can stay outside in the summer so it makes leaving him at home easier.
My dog likes water so next summer we will have LOTS of fun!!
There is fun activities and time to simply chill and be with friends.
Just plain old fun happens in the summertime!!!

What is YOUR favorite season?

Post #6: Something I Could Eat or Drink Every Day for the Rest of My Life

I must pick......

SMOOTHIES!!!
Why:
1. They are very delicious.
2. They can be quite versatile since there are many different fruits and flavor combinations possible!!!

One of my favorite memories happened about three or four years ago. My brother has moved out during the college school year and during the summer he moved back home. I have a really strong desire to be close to my brother so this was really fun (except when he ate my hot pocket :/ haha jk i forgive him). It was a nice sunny summer morning and I was watching a show that I had recently started liking "World's Strictest Parents". The show takes out of control teens and places them in a stricter household for a week to try to straighten them out. Crazy I know, but somehow I liked it. Anyway, my brother, Rollin, came and sat next to me while I was watching it and we proceeded to spend the next few hours watching it. We had so much fun laughing and talking about how crazy the teenagers were. It has always been fun hanging out with my brother and I hope that as we both get older our age gap will cave in and we can become closer. :))

Update

So, I haven't really posted much about me lately, so I will do that now.

1. First semester was miserable. Really hard and challenging, but it payed off as I got good grades after working so hard. I actually began to adhere to my brother's advice "Take everything you want to do, and do school instead." So true.

2. Got a dog in August! Can't believe I didn't even post about him... Let's see if my computer will let me put up some pictures of him. He is a black lab/mix. We are not sure with what but currently suspect pit bull (don't fear, he is a big baby and very sweet, not like a mean pit at all)

This is more of what he looks like now, but he was smaller in this picture. He is now 6 months and over 40 pounds.
Chewing...what he does best.
This picture is from the first day I got him....adorable!!!

A picture that my awesome friend Tessa took with her awesome camera.
This is a very accurate portrayal of his face.

My best friend does foster care for the humane society (when animals are too young too be adopted out they are placed in foster care where they are given constant care) and they found the poor little guy wandering the streets when we was only about a month old!! Miranda took him in and I fell in love with him. :) He, for an unknown reason, does not have a tail but simply a stub (we think someone docked it for some reason) which is actually a blessing because big dog's tails can be quite destructive...

Haha! This picture is when we first took him to the beach! He had a fantastic time!!
I love my puppy!!

Training is going moderately well. He is in intermediate training now. Once he finishes advanced I want to take him to dog school which I spent the summer working to pay for.

He is a good dog. So sweet and loving, and something very happy about him is that he stays with you. So you can let him off the leash in the front yard with very minimal fear of him running away. He doesn't chase squirrels, cars, or other dogs. He does love people though, and will occasionally run to greet random passerbyers. But he is completely harmless minus his claws, should you be unfortunate to have him jump on you (we're working on that!).

The worst part about him is his need to chew EVERYTHING, steal food from the table, and his loud incessant barking. As I said, we're working on it.

Oh wow, I didn't even tell you his name. Since he doesn't have a tail, my best friend named him Bear when she got him. He really looked just like a little bear cub. I decided I liked the name and kept it. He is lovingly referred to as: pup, izzagoodboy, my boy, and (my favorite) baby bear.

That's all I have time for now!

Love!

Dorothy :D

Hmmm I guess I'm not really a big "quote" person but I will put some down!! I do like song quotes...

"Everything you do affects someone else whether you think it does or not." ~Darcie D. (Soon to be Darcie B. :)) <3)

"He said 'I love you and that's what you are getting yourself into'" (Getting into You by Relient K, REALLY awesome song)

"I'm so done listening to you, time for you to go....I refuse to give one more day to you, time for you to go...no more wasting my life on this world's addictions, time for me to take you to find your place I am letting go, time for you to go" ("Time for You to Go" by BarlowGirl, another awesome song)

"I am the thorn in Your crown, but You love me anyway, I am the sweat from Your brow, but you love me anyway, I am Judas' kiss, but you love me anyway" ("You Love Me Anyway" by Sidewalk Prophets)

"Relying on God has to begin all over again every day as if nothing had yet been done" ~C.S. Lewis

"If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world." ~C.S. Lewis

I guess that's enough for now. :D

Blog Challenge #3: A Review of a Book you Recently Read.

The book that I recently read is:
1 PETER!!!!!!!!!!!!! From the Bible. (Yes, I don't read, so I had to pick an awesome book from the Living Word!!)
I have recently read all of 1 Peter.
The epistles enrich me so much because I am very used to reading the Old Testament. Reading the Epistles is like taking in a breath of fresh air. The Old Testament is beautiful of course, but definitely different than the NT.
In this book Paul covered LOTS about sharing in the sufferings of Christ, which I really enjoyed. It inspired me to be much bolder about Christ and rejoice when I am persecuted.
Also covered in the earlier chapters, was much on the assurance of salvation, which especially blessed me.

This verse meant so much to me:
"Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ". (1 Peter 1:13, NKJV)

and this one:
"For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles- when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries." (1 Peter 4:3 NKJV)

Lord,
Please help me to put away my sins which I have spent enough of my life doing and follow you completely.
In Jesus' name, Amen. <3

Blog Challenge Post #2: A Fave Pic and Why

Ok, so I have tons of favorite pictures, but my computer is lame and won't show them all, so I picked this one. This is me, my best friend, and her younger brother. I have the time of my life when I'm with these two and this was when we were at a concert. I love you Miranda and Aaron!!!!!!!

Peace On Earth

So...this year I've been kind of depressed about Christmas...and life in general. I sort of feel like Ecclesiastes 1:14 "I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and indeed, all is vanity and grasping for the wind."
So...today....after totally dumping on my awesome friend Tessa (Btw, thank you amazing friends for listening to my dumping the past month!!) I was feeling all "ugh" about life and how I just wanted to go to Heaven and have everything be all right when I realized that Christ coming gave peace ON earth. Not just peace in Heaven, but peace on EARTH!!
I don't have to be depressed or feel that life is worthless because Christ made a meaning by coming to earth. He obviously didn't think life was worthless.
BUT THE BIBLE IS CONTRADICTING you may say. It says in Ecclesiastes that everything is vanity and then a hop skip and a jump later it's telling me that life is full of purpose!!
I think what Solomon meant in Ecclesiastes is that to live for material things only will leave you empty. Only when we make Christ our passion and do things for HIM will we have lasting joy and meaning.
So, my blog friends, "I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." ( Philippians 3:14)
