2011

Well, it's almost 2012. Here I am, waiting for my bff to get here so we can start the party!!

2011....you were kinda crazy. Actually, you were really mellow, which was crazy since 2010 was so crazy. I don't feel like rambling here so I think I'm just gonna post some random stuff about my year:

God is awesome. I am in awe of Him. He is good, He is worthy to be praised.

Life hurts, God heals. (No I did not make that up myself)

People who go to Psychiatrists and counselors are not freaks. Some people have divorced parents, some people have trouble in school, some people have drug problems, and some people have OCD, some people cut, and some people have self-image problems. Guess what? WE ALL HAVE PROBLEMS!! This world tries to make out that some issues are bigger than others, BUT THATS NOT TRUE. Don't be afraid to seek help if you are going through something, and don't be turned away because you're afraid of feeling like a freak, you're not.

Sometimes I'm just gonna have to hurt. There is time in life for hurting and breaking and being at the complete end of your rope and there are times to rejoice and feel completely happy. Everyone goes through these stages, if you're in the hard one, hold on and never give up. WE HAVE ALL BEEN THERE AND WE WANT TO HELP. :)

It is a complete mystery why some of our best friends live so far away. It hurts to be away from those people, but I trust God that He has a plan for those relationships.

All you have is yourself. God has given you one personality, one face, one body, one life on this earth. YOU ARE NEVER GOING TO STOP BEING YOU. Enjoy yourself and stop trying to be like everyone else. Your problems are not going to disapear after you turn 20 or after you get married. You are you FOREVER, so accept this and enjoy it. (NOTE: I totally need to take my own advice :S)

THERE IS NO CONDEMNATION FOR THOSE WHO ARE IN CHRIST JESUS (ROM 8:1) I've spent all this time feeling sinful and yucky inside, THAT'S NOT FROM GOD. Once we confess our sins there is no condemning anymore. God isn't mad at us, He isn't frowning and displeased. He looks at us as He looks at Jesus THIS IS MY BELOVED SON IN WHOM I AM WELL PLEASED. Rest in God's peace and love and look at this world with a bright outlook knowing that God loves you, no strings attached, no loopholes, no fine print.

That's all I can think of for now. Hope this encourages you. :) HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR AND BE SAFE!!!

What has God taught you this year?

What I've Overcome (Fireflight song)

I remember when I bought this album, I was in a really painful place. I remember listening to this song and hoping that someday I could sing this song about myself. Today is that day.

Jesus, You're awesome. Thank you for saving me and never giving up on me even when I turn away from You. Thank you for Your awesome healing.

Post #7: Write about a Favorite Season

MY FAVORITE SEASON IS.......................

I love summer because:
It is warm and sunny and happy all the day long!
No school!
I get to watch my niece and nephew in the summer as my summer job and we have lots of fun.
My dog can stay outside in the summer so it makes leaving him at home easier.
My dog likes water so next summer we will have LOTS of fun!!
There is fun activities and time to simply chill and be with friends.
Just plain old fun happens in the summertime!!!

What is YOUR favorite season?

One of my favorite memories happened about three or four years ago. My brother has moved out during the college school year and during the summer he moved back home. I have a really strong desire to be close to my brother so this was really fun (except when he ate my hot pocket :/ haha jk i forgive him). It was a nice sunny summer morning and I was watching a show that I had recently started liking "World's Strictest Parents". The show takes out of control teens and places them in a stricter household for a week to try to straighten them out. Crazy I know, but somehow I liked it. Anyway, my brother, Rollin, came and sat next to me while I was watching it and we proceeded to spend the next few hours watching it. We had so much fun laughing and talking about how crazy the teenagers were. It has always been fun hanging out with my brother and I hope that as we both get older our age gap will cave in and we can become closer. :))

Update

So, I haven't really posted much about me lately, so I will do that now.

1. First semester was miserable. Really hard and challenging, but it payed off as I got good grades after working so hard. I actually began to adhere to my brother's advice "Take everything you want to do, and do school instead." So true.

2. Got a dog in August! Can't believe I didn't even post about him... Let's see if my computer will let me put up some pictures of him. He is a black lab/mix. We are not sure with what but currently suspect pit bull (don't fear, he is a big baby and very sweet, not like a mean pit at all)

This is more of what he looks like now, but he was smaller in this picture. He is now 6 months and over 40 pounds.
Chewing...what he does best.
This picture is from the first day I got him....adorable!!!

A picture that my awesome friend Tessa took with her awesome camera.
This is a very accurate portrayal of his face.

My best friend does foster care for the humane society (when animals are too young too be adopted out they are placed in foster care where they are given constant care) and they found the poor little guy wandering the streets when we was only about a month old!! Miranda took him in and I fell in love with him. :) He, for an unknown reason, does not have a tail but simply a stub (we think someone docked it for some reason) which is actually a blessing because big dog's tails can be quite destructive...

Haha! This picture is when we first took him to the beach! He had a fantastic time!!
I love my puppy!!

Training is going moderately well. He is in intermediate training now. Once he finishes advanced I want to take him to dog school which I spent the summer working to pay for.

He is a good dog. So sweet and loving, and something very happy about him is that he stays with you. So you can let him off the leash in the front yard with very minimal fear of him running away. He doesn't chase squirrels, cars, or other dogs. He does love people though, and will occasionally run to greet random passerbyers. But he is completely harmless minus his claws, should you be unfortunate to have him jump on you (we're working on that!).

The worst part about him is his need to chew EVERYTHING, steal food from the table, and his loud incessant barking. As I said, we're working on it.

Oh wow, I didn't even tell you his name. Since he doesn't have a tail, my best friend named him Bear when she got him. He really looked just like a little bear cub. I decided I liked the name and kept it. He is lovingly referred to as: pup, izzagoodboy, my boy, and (my favorite) baby bear.

That's all I have time for now!

Love!

Dorothy :D

Hmmm I guess I'm not really a big "quote" person but I will put some down!! I do like song quotes...

"Everything you do affects someone else whether you think it does or not." ~Darcie D. (Soon to be Darcie B. :)) <3)

"He said 'I love you and that's what you are getting yourself into'" (Getting into You by Relient K, REALLY awesome song)

"I'm so done listening to you, time for you to go....I refuse to give one more day to you, time for you to go...no more wasting my life on this world's addictions, time for me to take you to find your place I am letting go, time for you to go" ("Time for You to Go" by BarlowGirl, another awesome song)

"I am the thorn in Your crown, but You love me anyway, I am the sweat from Your brow, but you love me anyway, I am Judas' kiss, but you love me anyway" ("You Love Me Anyway" by Sidewalk Prophets)

"Relying on God has to begin all over again every day as if nothing had yet been done" ~C.S. Lewis

"If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world." ~C.S. Lewis

I guess that's enough for now. :D

Blog Challenge #3: A Review of a Book you Recently Read.

The book that I recently read is:
1 PETER!!!!!!!!!!!!! From the Bible. (Yes, I don't read, so I had to pick an awesome book from the Living Word!!)
I have recently read all of 1 Peter.
The epistles enrich me so much because I am very used to reading the Old Testament. Reading the Epistles is like taking in a breath of fresh air. The Old Testament is beautiful of course, but definitely different than the NT.
In this book Paul covered LOTS about sharing in the sufferings of Christ, which I really enjoyed. It inspired me to be much bolder about Christ and rejoice when I am persecuted.
Also covered in the earlier chapters, was much on the assurance of salvation, which especially blessed me.

This verse meant so much to me:
"Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ". (1 Peter 1:13, NKJV)

and this one:
"For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles- when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries." (1 Peter 4:3 NKJV)

Lord,
Please help me to put away my sins which I have spent enough of my life doing and follow you completely.
In Jesus' name, Amen. <3

Blog Challenge Post #2: A Fave Pic and Why

Ok, so I have tons of favorite pictures, but my computer is lame and won't show them all, so I picked this one. This is me, my best friend, and her younger brother. I have the time of my life when I'm with these two and this was when we were at a concert. I love you Miranda and Aaron!!!!!!!

Peace On Earth

So...this year I've been kind of depressed about Christmas...and life in general. I sort of feel like Ecclesiastes 1:14 "I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and indeed, all is vanity and grasping for the wind."
So...today....after totally dumping on my awesome friend Tessa (Btw, thank you amazing friends for listening to my dumping the past month!!) I was feeling all "ugh" about life and how I just wanted to go to Heaven and have everything be all right when I realized that Christ coming gave peace ON earth. Not just peace in Heaven, but peace on EARTH!!
I don't have to be depressed or feel that life is worthless because Christ made a meaning by coming to earth. He obviously didn't think life was worthless.
BUT THE BIBLE IS CONTRADICTING you may say. It says in Ecclesiastes that everything is vanity and then a hop skip and a jump later it's telling me that life is full of purpose!!
I think what Solomon meant in Ecclesiastes is that to live for material things only will leave you empty. Only when we make Christ our passion and do things for HIM will we have lasting joy and meaning.
So, my blog friends, "I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." ( Philippians 3:14)

Rainy Day Post

NOTICE: My computer has not been letting me blog lately so that is why I haven't been on. :D I think it's working now!

Hello!
Well, it is the first really cold day of this fall. It's been raining outside all day.
So, I guess it is officially fall weather. I will miss summer, but I am somewhat excited.
Nothing cheers me up about this drear weather more than SHOPPING!! My Dad gave me some wardrobe money so I went to Plato's Closet and bought some much needed pieces.
First order of business-Jeans!!! I only have two pairs of jeans that I wear regularly (well, 3 I guess). One flair pair that my sister gave me, another one that I have only been wearing out of necessity that I think I my sister gave me, and my skinny jeans-which I wear for special occasions.
The first pair actually wore a big hole in the knee in it. My Mother CANNOT STAND holes in jeans and so she cringed everytime I would wear them. They were kinda uncomfortable anyway, so I needed some new pairs.
We found 2 great pairs, one of them being dark jeans (I am IN LOVE with dark jeans :P), cashing in at $12 and $16 (can you say "DEAL!!").
Then I found another pair of skinny jeans (yay!). (Those were $18)
Then my Mom thought I needed a new hoodie, so I got this cute grey one with a fur hoodie and purple fabric on the inside. Very warm and cozy. AND, it was only $8!!
Then I got this adorable over jacket thing, can't really describe it, but it will go great with my church outfits, I think. Then maybe I won't be cold half the time, haha!
Then I got this cozy grey knit shirt.
Add on a beautiful birthday gift for my friend Elizabeth, and it was a great trip!
It was $60 dollars, but considering how much I got and the need of it all, it was good!

Idols...

Wrote this a couple months ago, just now posting it:

Do yourself a favor and take in the meaning of this song. Don't obsess over anyone in the media and think that you're not idolizing them and they have great morals just cause they say they are a Christian.
When they fall, it will hurt you, I know.
We all can fall, even if we once were on the right path.

You're the coolest person, that I have ever seen
So pretty with your perfect face on the tv screen.
Well, you're a god I know it how you stand above them all
You are my perfect person, man, I'd hate to see you fall
I want someone to believe in, yeah, well don't we all
Cause in this life of imperfection want someone who won't fall
You've got it, you've got it, you've got it all.
Got a magazine today, that was full of you
Shocked to read the words they said, tell me they're not true
Add you to my fallen list, one more has hit the ground
The fault was mine, I held you too high, your only way was down.
I want someone to believe in, yeah, well don't we all
Cause in this life of imperfection want someone who won't fall
You've got it, you've got it, you've got it all
I can't deny this need inside, I have to find the perfect one
But I wonder if behind my need, there might just be a reason
Is my life just one big searching for the one I can adore,
It never works and I'm just left here wanting more
Could it be this hungers there, to drive me to the One
Who's worthy of all worship, would my searching then be done?
("Pedestal" by BarlowGirl". You can look this up by googling it or listening to it on Zune.net)
This post was written in my lament over Joe Jonas' video for "Just in Love With You".
To fellow JoBro lover, Elissa, text me about it girl, it's depressing :(

Forgiveness

I realized something today that I would like to share :).

I was inspired from reading 2 Corinthians 2.

Forgiveness can be hard for me, at least. I tend to take offense at the smallest things and hold them to people for YEARS.

Then I realized today that we can forgive because God gave everything for us. He's given us everything, saved usrom Hell, we don't have to be kept captive by Satan's devices for trapping us in sin. We have been SET FREE from the power of grudgery and are free to forgive people for even the deepest hurts and show them love.

Dear Lovely Mom :)

16 years ago you were anxiously awaiting the arrival of your new baby girl. You were large, bedridden, and in a foreign city with a nickname of "Sin City".

THANK you for taking care of me every single day of my life.
THANK you for caring about me when the doctors wouldn't give me back to you.
THANK you for enduring the pain of bringing me into the world.
THANK you for showing me God.
THANK you for laying in a bed for 7 months of (I'm guessing) pain.

You really are the best! LOVE FOREVER!!! <3 <3 <3

Pre- Birthday

Well, today is the last day I am living as 15 years old.

Pretty crazy.

Just thinking of how God has changed me and brought me through so much in my short 16 years is truly amazing!

"Thoughts of You, and how You changed me, fill my mind....You still loved me even when I, pushed you away...You stood there and waited, until the day I returned."

This song, "Thoughts of You" by BarlowGirl really relates to me.

God has changed me so much its incredible:
Instead of being really mean, He made me kinder.
Instead of being a feminist, He made me pretty much the biggest girly girl ever.
Instead of desiring to be worldly, He has given me a fire for Him.
Instead of liking secular music way better, He's given me a special love for Christian music.

I'm in a song quotey mood so here is some:

"You are more, beautiful than anyone, ever, everyday, You're the same, You never change, no never." ~"There is No One Like You" by BarlowGirl

"For You I sing, I dance, rejoice in this Divine romance, lift my heart, and my hands, to show my love." ~"Divine Romance" by Phil Wickham

"Had I the guilt, of all the world, He's able to forgive, why should I fear the debt is payed, if only I'd believe." ~Hymn

New Hobby: Creatively Making Delicious Food

Hello!
So, I have recently discovered a new hobby: cooking!
I have never really, say, LIKED cooking, even though I did do it occasionally. Also I fail to be creative when cooking. So I look in the refrigerator and if there's nothing immediatly prepared I close the door and go hungry. Recently, I've been getting creative, though! Here are two recipes that I came up with:

Pepperoni String Cheese Quesedillas:

You will need:
Almost one string cheese stick for each quesedilla
Tortillas (I prefer corn)
Pepperoni (3-5 per quesedilla)
NOTE: You may also use regular cheese for this but the string cheese kinda makes it fun. It's sort of a waste of string cheese so I understand if you want to use regular, I use regular myself alot of times.

String the cheese so it makes little strips. Heat the tortillas in a flat skillet (or whatever you have) on medium heat. When the tortillas are warm, arrange the string cheese in a weaved way, sort of like a pie(## down, ##across), or however you want to so that it covers most of the tortilla. Regular cheese simply spread it all over :P. Then place the pepperoni however you would like it (use as much or as little as you want). Then cover with the other tortilla and cook on both sides until the tortilla is a little brown or the cheese is all melted. If you wait until its brown it will be crunchier but it is good both ways.

WALA!!! EAT, ENJOY!!!

Next recipe:

Meatloaf Eggs

You will need:
Eggs (4 eggs served me and my Dad pretty well)
Green peppers (optional)
Meatloaf!! (A good way to use leftover meatloaf??)

Put a bit of oil in the skillet and turn burner on to medium heat. In a few minutes add the eggs and green peppers (I sprinkled seasoned salt on the eggs, too). Cook until. the eggs are MOSTLY done. Then add bits of meatloaf and cook until completely done.

Wala!!! It is delicious....truly delicious.

Then, I found this DELICIOUS recipe on an ice cream cone box. It sounds really weird, but it is quite possibly the most delicious thing on earth.

Brownie Cones:

You will need:
6 Jumbo cones (I'm guessing if you used regular cones it would prly make about 8? And make sure you use the ones that stand up and not the waffle cones)
Brownie mix (get the value mix that only costs a dollar, or if you'd like to get a family size, you would just have to use more cones)

Preheat oven to 350F. Mix brownie mix til smooth. In a muffin pan, stand cones upright and spoon brownie mix until the cup of the cone (abt 3/4 full). Bake for 30-40 min. or until toothpick comes out clean.

The recipe on the box said to dip them in melted chocolate but I just added vanilla ice cream on top. They are delicious plain, too!
Good hot or cold! When cold, the top layer is really hart to bite through, so if you don't wanna bite hard, just cut the top part off.

Hope you enjoyed these delicious recipes! If you try any of them, let me know if you liked them!

Forever His,
Dorothy ^_^

Fashion with a Meaning

Not sure if you guys have heard of this, but I've heard on tv from fashion people, that you should (if you want to) pick one thing and make it your special fashion ornament. Basically something such as bows, peace signs, feathers, pearls, or even something as simple as bracelets. So every so often you add this distinguishing sign to your wardrobe to, I suppose, make it more "you". I've found that some people pick it themselves, some are chosen for them by their friends :).

I recently picked mine. :D

I picked..............

Anchors!!!

Why: About a year ago I was going through a stressful time. Some people who are close to me were not getting along and so it was frightening me. I was at a party and was really stressed so I had to go in the bathroom and pretty much just cry. I had my Bible in my purse and so I read it. I felt the peace of God in my countanance. When I got up and looked in the mirror I saw my anchor necklace that my uncle had bought for me only about a week ago. The reason why I got that necklace, the song "Anchor" by Satellites and Sirens, floated through my head: "All around the tide is pulling away, You anchor, anchor me down". That sent happiness through me and I smiled as I held the necklace and played the song in my head. Then I felt better.

So that's why I picked anchors as my fashion mantra. To remind me that I am anchored in Him, FOREVER.

Dorothy

Girl's Group

This school year I am starting a girl's group for middle schoolers and freshman. It will be mostly discussion about things and how it relates to us as Christians and how we should live. I really want to just talk to the girls. I know that kids have deep things inside of them, I figured I'd try to draw it out of them and hopefully ignite a life long fire.

The middle school years are hard years. You're finding out yourself, the world, your style, and what you want. At that age, I went through loneliness, minor depression, and feeling so different.

I want to work with this fun energetic age and draw them closer to Christ.

For many years I dreamed about music. Being a singer. It is still a dream but I feel like I am called to ministry. I love talking about Jesus. It makes me come alive, it makes me happy. The best thing is, I don't feel sad or upset that I am feeling called to not become some famous singer. I don't feel sad that I'm losing my dream. Not that it's completely dead or I don't feel called to it at all. I just have another call.

I feel called to be closer to God. The heart is willing but the flesh is weak.

Blog Design?

How are you liking the new blog design? I think I *might* be getting a hang of the design thing.
Well, I renamed my blog because that is how I feel about Jesus. Then, I chose the picture of the little girl because growing up fascinates me in this extraordinary way. I miss being little but I'm excited about being older. It's hard to let go of childhood.

Happy Day, Happy Life :)

So recently I stopped trying. Stopped trying to be good enough, stopped trying to live up to the standards of Godliness. My righteousness is Jesus Christ. I am loved FOREVER. His peace is FOREVER. I can't do anything by trying, I can only trust and rest.
I've been SO happy. For the first time I feel like I really am in love with Jesus.
This is pretty much how I feel today:

"Praise the Lord!

Praise, O servants of the Lord,
Praise the name of the Lord!
Blessed be the name of the Lord
From this time forth and forevermore!
From the rising of the sun to its going down
The Lord's name is to be praised.

The Lord is high above all nations,
His glory above the heavens.
Who is like the Lord our God.
Who dwells on high,
Who humbles Himself to behold
The things that are in the heavens and in the earth?

He raises the poor out of the dust,
And lifts the needy out of the ash heap,
That He may seat him with princes-
With the princes of His people.
He grants the barren woman a home
Like a joyful mother of children.

Praise the Lord!"
~Psalm 113

Also, I really enjoyed this:

"Relax in My peaceful presence. Do not bring performance pressures into our sacred space of communion. When you are with someone you trust completely, you feeel free to be yourself. This is one of the joys of true friendship. Though I am Lord of lords and King of kings, I also desire to be your intimate Friend. When you are tense or pretentious in our relationship, I feel hurt. I know the worst about you, but I also see the best in you. I long for you to trust me enough to be fully yourself with me. Whe you are real with me, I am able to bring out the best in you: the very gifts I have planted in your soul. Relax, and enjoy our friendship."
~from "Jesus Calling" by Sarah Young
(See Revelation 17:14; John 15:13-15)

This is my bff Miranda. She's amazing. This is us at the Everfound concert. Just thought I'd share with ya'll. ^_^

Incredible Song

So, Anthem Lights is pretty much the most amazing band.
I love their song "Outta My Mind" because it is extremely catchy but also has a deep meaning.

Well, hello! I am a terrible blogger.
Since my last post I have been to Arkansas, summer camp, Glenwood Springs, and have worked alot! I'm having a fantastic summer.
After getting back from Arkansas and getting a Netflix I have discovered my new favorite tv show: Bones
Yep.
I also started reading my devotional book "Jesus Calling" by Sarah Young again after stopping for a few months. I am REALLY liking it. Yesterday, the devotional talked about how God is beside us, the "you-and I-factor", how we shouldn't worry about how we are going to face what comes at us in the day, but rather can we trust God to get through the day? We can get through whatever God allows to happen in this life when we trust in Him. This has made an impact on me. I forget to take literally that God is with me. But He is in me and beside me. I love Him.

"Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand." ~Isaiah 41:10

"Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ on my right, Christ on my left, Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down, Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me, Christ in the mouth of every man who speaks of me, Christ in the eye that sees me, Christ in the ear that hears me." from The Lorica of Saint Patrick

My Fave Music (for this week)

So, while watching the movie "Tron: Legacy" I discovered that I have found (for the first time) a techno song that I LOVE! It's quite exciting as anything that gets me closer to my brother is a success for me. Here it is, but be careful, it will most likely be stuck in your head for a very long time!

Also, another song I have been loving is off of the Disney Channal Original Movie, "Lemonade Mouth":

And, as for Christian music, I have been learning to play "The Last Night" by Skillet on the piano recently (which I highly enjoy). Also I really LOVE this song by Tenth Avenue North "You are More":

Summer is Coming!

Hello!
So this next week is my LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL FOR SOPHOMORE YEAR!!! I am SO excited! To make this even more amazing, this week is going to be really easy since I have finished or have minimal work on many school subjects. The hard part is getting in the time needed so I don't have to come up short and do more school.

What am I doing this summer, you may ask? LOTS!

Immediatly after I get done with school is graduation weekend! AKA Party!!!!!!! Yay! :)
Then the following week I am leaving on a week long trip to AR to see one of my best friends. I am sooooooooo excited!!!

Then when I get back, I am going to start my summer job which is watching my niece and nephew Mon-Thursday from 9 in the morning til around 3 in the afternoon. It's a big job, I know (at least I feel like it is), but I'm getting older and the way I look at it, it's OKAY to have a long job, it's OKAY to be working a big chunk of the summer, and in the long run, it's probably better than spending the whole summer extremely board around my house.
I am excited about this job, too, because, with lots of time on my hands, I can probably do some really fun activities with my niece and nephew (Sage, 3 1/2, and Stella, 19 MO.) I won't have to be afraid of making a mess or it taking awhile. So I am happy about this.

Then, in June, I am going to SUMMER CAMP!!! Yay! My best friend is coming with me, too! It is a Christian summer camp I go to with my youth group. It's in the mountains and there are assemblies with "lessons" in the evening, some classes in the mornings, hiking, yummy and new food, and FUN!

So, that is my summer, Lord willing!

What are YOU doing this summer?

For His Glory,
Dorothy :)

My Very Own Blog!

Hello friends! I have not had a blog before because my Mom didn't let me. Now she is letting me. YAY! I am very excited! I will hopefully blog about faith, family, and friends.
I named my blog accordingly because I strive to do all things for God's glory.

Jesus,
I ask that you will have this blog. Please encourage all who read and work in their hearts to further love and live for you. In Jesus's name, Amen.
